Project Description

Improving access to appropriate financing for direct actors of agro-silvi-pastoral sectors in the targeted areas by setting up a viable system / environment promoting financial inclusion in family and pastoral agriculture. This aims, through the strengthening of microfinance actors, to develop the conditions of sustainability and trust between the actors of the pastoral sectors and the financial sector.

To project also aims to producing and capitalizing, in the light of experiences and achievements, knowledge on agricultural and pastoral financing and of mobilizing this knowledge to contribute to the structuring of a concerted national strategic approach of the public authorities in this area.

The activities carried out involve

  • Mapping of the current supply of agri-finance services (and corresponding constraints) to smallholder farmers
  • Analysis of the demand for financial services (needs) from smallholder farmers
  • Assess the potential appetite of Financial Services Providers (FSPs) to provide specific financial services/products to smallholder farmers
  • Assist RIMFIL to select partner FSPs (Institutional diagnosis)
  • Provide tailored technical assistance and coaching to MFIs
  • Develop approaches to financial education and provide support to SMEs applying for credit
  • Set-up adequate funding mechanisms as well as financial products for agriculture/rural finance
