Agriculture is an important driver of economic growth, particularly in Africa where it is the main source of income for around 90% of the rural population and 60% of its workforce.

While there has been an improvement in the access of millions of smallholder farmers to financial services in general, access to financial services specific to their farming activities remains largely limited.

Developing Agricultural Value Chain Finance (AVCF) requires specific strategies, methods, tools and skills. Azimut puts all its expertise at the service of FSPs to better serve African farmers and rural entrepreneurs. We support them in:

  • Elaborate an Agriculture Finance / Agribusiness Strategy
  • Establish Agri-Finance Lending Departments
  • Design refined financial products for Agriculture / Agribusiness
  • Agri-lending methodologies
  • Staff training / Coaching
  • Manage specific risks
  • Develop Agents network, explore innovative delivery channels

Azimut is also solicited by donors and International Financial Institutions to:

  • Design agricultural finance projects;
  • Carry out feasibility studies and structure investment funds dedicated to agriculture / livestock
  • Design and operationalize innovative financing mechanisms (Guarantee Fund)
