Review credit operations & loan products

Assignment Name:
Review credit operations/loan products of the MFI RIM Ltd.

Project Description:
The objective of the project is to assist the RIM in identifying operational gaps that could hinder its development, and to propose a suitable technical assistance plan to fill these gaps. Following the diagnostic phase, Azimut IF supported the RIM during the second phase of technical assistance, which aims to reorganize lending operations and strengthen management capacity. This mission also aimed at strengthening RIM’s position in the Rwandan microfinance market and improving its profitability and sustainability.

The activities carried out involve:

Conduct a diagnosis covering the areas of:

  • The environment of the organization
  • Credit and savings operations
  • Portfolio quality
  • Management and organization
  • Financial management
  • Governance and strategic positioning

Develop and execute the following technical assistance plan

  • The reorganization of the network
  • Decentralization of operations
  • Restructuring of the operational staff and strengthening of the credit profession
  • Clarify the strategic positioning of the RIM
  • Review of the microfinance product offer
  • Setting up an SME credit product
  • Standardization of external communication
  • Strengthening the corporate culture and internal communication
  • Review of internal control procedures and training of staff.
